You can <a href=\"https:\/\/fs20.freesound.org\/composition-contest\/intangible-heritage\/\">listen to them here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, we launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upf.edu\/web\/phonos\/inici\/-\/asset_publisher\/6o5hhSb6iSMy\/content\/freesound-composition-call\/maximized\">Freesound 20th Anniversary Composition contest<\/a> to celebrate two decades of Freesound. Now, we are thrilled to announce the results!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contest invited sound artists, composers, and explorers from around the world to create works around the theme of Intangible Heritage, using only sounds from the Freesound archive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are very grateful for the enthusiastic response from the community: in total, we received <strong>42 submissions<\/strong>. After a first pre-selection round carried out by members of the Freesound team in which 14 works were shortlisted, our invited jury awarded <strong>1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, and 2 Honorary Mentions<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The jury was composed of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lamembrana.com\/anxefaraldo\/\">Anxe Faraldo<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ariadnaalsinatarres.com\">Ariadna Alsina<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cccb.org\/en\/participants\/file\/lluis-nacenta\/45208\">Llu\u00eds Nacenta<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Awarded works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1st Prize<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>pantea<\/strong> <em>\u201cEchoes in the Fold\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2nd Prizes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sean Kinnear<\/strong> <em>\u201cOur Attempts (Leaves)\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Timothy Schmele<\/strong> <em>\u201c1972\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Honorary Mentions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Stefano Calvanese<\/strong> <em>\u201cMEMORIA CONDIVISA (Collective Memory)\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Diego Martinez<\/strong> <em>\u201cSucesos irrecordables (Pouvoir tout dire)\u00a8<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anniversary event<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To mark this special occasion, we will host a <strong>20th Anniversary Celebration<\/strong> on <strong>October 28th, 2025<\/strong> at <strong>Sala Arany\u00f3, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona<\/strong>. The event will feature a <strong>public audition of the shortlisted and winning compositions<\/strong>, alongside talks from users of the Freesound community. The talks will be streamed to enable online participation. This will be a unique opportunity to get to know the Freesound\u2019s community better, to hear directly from contributors, and to come together to celebrate two decades of shared sounds. We warmly invite everyone to join us in Barcelona (or remote) for this celebration! The full program of the event will be made available during the coming weeks in the Freesound blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again, we would like to thank all the participants for their contributions. The diversity of the submissions truly showcased the creative potential of Freesound\u2019s contributors. <strong>We are working towards making all the submissions available online in the coming months<\/strong>.
