{"id":1438,"date":"2022-09-20T09:32:09","date_gmt":"2022-09-20T08:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.freesound.org\/?p=1438"},"modified":"2022-09-20T09:32:09","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T08:32:09","slug":"wikimedia-sound-logo-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.freesound.org\/?p=1438","title":{"rendered":"Wikimedia Sound Logo Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[Guest Blog post by <a href=\"https:\/\/wikimediafoundation.org\/profile\/mehrdad-pourzakikhani\/\">Mehrdad Pourzaki<\/a>, Lead Movement Communications Specialist at Wikimedia Foundation]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear Freesounders,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wikimedia Foundation, the global nonprofit that hosts Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, including our audiovisual repository the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/Main_Page?useskin=vector-2022\" target=\"_blank\">Wikimedia Commons<\/a>, is hosting a global contest for <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/soundlogo.wikimedia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Sound of All Human Knowledge<\/a>. <strong>Submissions are open now through 10 October<\/strong>. The Wikimedia sound logo will be used to identify Wikimedia content across a wide range of uses and smart devices, including personal voice assistants. You can<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/meta.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/Communications\/Sound_Logo\" target=\"_blank\"> learn more about the contest<\/a> on wiki, including campaign materials and how-to videos. There is also a humble prize for the winning sound. The <strong>Freesound community is primed to participate<\/strong> since you already have a knowledge of and appreciation for audio and free licensing. As the organizers, we warmly invite the Freesound community to take part in this global contest. Voice assistants <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/diff.wikimedia.org\/2022\/03\/15\/you-cant-see-the-puzzle-globe-on-an-audio-speaker-a-sound-logo-for-wikimedia\/\" target=\"_blank\">are on the rise everywhere<\/a> in the world and while there is a lot of expertise in our movement when it comes to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/diff.wikimedia.org\/2022\/05\/14\/conceptualizing-a-new-logo-contest-based-on-existing-practices\/\" target=\"_blank\">visual logos and photo competitions<\/a>, we are excited to be exploring new parameters when it comes to sound and audio production.
